Keep Your Content Fresh
If you start searching on the Internet you’ll probably notice, more often that not, is the sites that rank at the top have a large database of information and let me tell you…they are always working on keeping it fresh. When you find the exceptions to the rule you can probably bet they have invested a lot of time and money into achieving a top rank in Google.
What Helps A Website Rank High?
Ranking well in google is not an art where sometimes it works and others it just doesn’t turn out right, it’s a science. And that means it’s been tested and mapped out to it’s full extent. Granted, the procedure does change as Google updates it’s formulas but they are always keen to inform the industry of the changes they’re making, without giving too much away.
One of the large contributors to attaining a high ranking is keep your content fresh and have plenty of it. It’s easy enough for everyone to do, assuming we have the time. Buthugs way I see it is …. the more page you have = the more traffic you can get. Obviously keeping it relevant to your website topic/theme.
By generating more targeted pages, related to your sites main theme, Google will see your site as an expert in what your offering. Google loves finding new pages to display and loves fresh content.
Don’t Fix What Isn’t Broken – Rubbish!
Some people think if your site’s ranking okay there’s no need to work on it, why not just leave it. My response would be, because Johnny somebody 10 pages below you, with a business just like yours, is slowly building his website to take over those sites sitting idle not developing…just like yours. Someone’s always working to be the next big thing, so why not make sure it’s you!
Final Recommendations
- It’s important to not only add new, relevant and updated information but to make sure every time you do you’re generating a new page and using heading tags, title tags, description tags and a relevant URL ending.
- Share every new page you create with your followers, on what ever medium you connect/contact them with. If you don’t have FaceBook, Twitter or newsletter subscriptions with your previous clients then I suggest you set it up, and keep them informed.
- Track response rates etc. using Google Analytics, or Campaign Monitor to see whose opening your emails and what topics are generating a lot of traffic to your site. This helps you to know what pages your previous and future clients might be interested in leaning more about.
