How Do I Find Keywords That Get Traffic?

Getting an idea of which keywords get traffic can be both an easy and a difficult task. We aren’t going to dive too deep into it but I’ll show you a couple of simple tools to get a good understanding of where the traffic flow is. If you target a locally based search term you’ll probably be better contacting us to help clarify if you’ll get traffic or not as the following tools aren’t sufficient.

Google Adwords Keyword Tool

The first place in your browser you’ll need to open up is Google, good old Google. Type in Google Keyword Tool and click on the first link. It will take you to a page that looks like this:

With this tool you can enter keywords/phrases which you would like to see how much search traffic there is. It will also show you what amount of competition you can expect to have and can even extend your keyword search to include phrases that you may have missed. Google is very helpful because they want you to use their Google Adwords tool to advertise your business. Very sneaky.

Now that you have an idea of the search volume you can get in Adwords lets have a look at another keyword tool and compare the results (as they can vary).
